Jean 'Binta' Breeze presents her new collection The Verandah Poems with a reading at Newcastle University's Culture Lab.
Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze MBE is a Jamaican poet and mentor, whose words carry powerful political and personal messages. She has presented her work globally including Europe, the Caribbean, America, Asia and Africa. Her new poetry collection is The Verandah Poems (Bloodaxe). She is the author of eight books including Riddim Ravings, On the Edge of An Island and Third World Girl. Her recordings include Riddim Ravings, Tracks and Riding on de Riddim. She is an honorary Creative Writing Fellow at the University of Leicester and received an MBE for Services to Literature in 2012.
