Experience an exhilarating mix of words and music, and a playful and creative approach to the way that they can, and do, blend.
A lively and entertaining masterclass on what can come from combining the artistry of calypso with the creativity of poetry - what John Agard refers to as Poetsonian. Experience an exhilarating mix of words and music, and a playful and creative approach to the way that they can, and do, blend.
The session will be led by poet and playwright John Agard and poet and spoken word artist Michael Brome. It will include live poetry and performances by both and participants will be encouraged to take part in the event, and to create and write short pieces and poems from the themes of the session. There will also be the chance to share your work publicly with the group (optional).
Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a public online showcase later on in the day, which is part of Newham Word Fest (We Liming which runs 6pm to 7pm).
The masterclass has been curated by Tilt Patron John Agard and Melanie Abrahams. It is produced by Tilt with funding and support from Renaissance One.
