Naomi Mwasambili has worked for over a decade in the area of social innovation, psychology, mental health and research. Starting her career in research, she has worked as a clinician and, more recently, been focused on service and product design. Her team at Chanua have developed a range of products and services embedding play, gamification and technology in areas of health, mental health and enterprise development and an example of this can be seen through their Neuro Champions programme training young leaders in areas of the Brain and Mental Health through immersive training, play and technology. During the covid-19 pandemic her team have been supporting the rise in mental health problems and developed Neurolove, a therapeutic platform for young people between the ages of 8-25 and a collaboration with Inc Arts to develop Inc Arts Minds providing culturally appropriate therapeutic support to people who have experienced racial trauma in the arts.
An award-winning entrepreneur, she has supported 100's of entrepreneurs at start up and scale up stages, she is Entrepreneur in Residence at London Southbank University and provides academic teaching at a range of universities on the topics of entrepreneurship. She is a Wellcome Trust public engagement awardee, co-led the UK implementation of Hacking Health part of a Global Network of Healthcare innovators and is a previous trustee of The School for Social Entrepreneurs.
Following the loss of her son earlier this year due to pre-term labour, she set up a go fund me called the Kimelo Neonatal Fund-raising money to supporting neonatal and maternal care in Tanzania. Her passion has always been to develop and support the business ecosystem in Africa and specifically Tanzania and is currently developing programmes through Livy Africa focused on the value addition of agricultural based products and agribusiness entrepreneurship incubation services. She is in the process of directing and producing her first documentary ' Added Value : The Cocoa Story exploring decolonising the cocoa value chain.
