8 March is International Women's Day and we'll take a walk in the afternoon to reflect and to practice the values of sisterhood and solidarity.
Manchester is where I’ve made my home for the last sixteen years, it’s where I create art and take part in experiences with the many communities I’m part of.
This is an invitation to take a gentle stroll around my neighbourhood, to contemplate the influences, joys and inspirations it brings to me.
There’ll be short talks and conversation as I introduce you to a few meaningful places that have developed me as an artist, as a woman, as a human. Special guests include poet and resilience coach Shamshad Khan and poet, playwright and performance artist Chanje Kunda.
We will meet at Hulme Community Garden Centre and finish at The Old Abbey Taphouse for tea and chat. The walking part is 60 minutes long at an easy pace, the tea and chat is optional.
If you have any access issues please get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate you.
This event is part of This Is Who We Are (TIWWA) which is part of the British Council's UK-Australia season.
On this day there will be a sister walk in Melbourne, for more information on this and the wider TIWWA project click here
