Write Black to the Beginning is a timeline of Nottingham’s Black Writers from 1960 to the present day. Join us on this creative journey, decade by decade, through a promenade performance starting in the NAE café, then leading you through the mezzanine gallery, learning room and performance space, where we will highlight the work of some of Nottingham’s finest Black writers. Within this event you will have the opportunity to experience spoken word, music, anecdotal experiences and humorous reflections at a time where Black writers were subjected to racism and prejudice. Presented by Panya Banjoko, a Patron of the Nottingham City UNESCO City of Literature bid.
This is a unique opportunity to view some of Nottingham Black Archive’s artefacts which have been specially selected to represent the work of local writers from the 1960s to the present day. In association with Nottingham Black Archive and Renaissance One.
