Caryl Phillips is an author of numerous works of fiction and non-fiction. His novel Crossing The River was shortlisted for the Booker Prize.  He was born in St Kitts, grew up in Leeds and presently teaches at Yale University. A regular contributor to The Guardian and The New Republic, his latest novel, The Lost Child, was published in 2015 (Oneworld).

In October 2015, Caryl Phillips visited England to do a book tour of The Lost Child, with fellow author Robert Antoni, also in the country to do readings for As Flies To Whatless Boys.  The tour produced by Renaissance One was in partnership with Leeds University, Leeds Beckett University, The Big Bookend, Ilkley Literature Festival, Off The Shelf Festival of Words, Peepal Tree and Oneworld, and was funded by Arts Council England.
